What is TOG and why is it important?

Thermal Overall Grade (TOG) is a rating system for warmth and is used to calculate how fabric uses heat. The most common TOG ratings are 0.5 TOG, 1.0 TOG, & 2.5 TOG. Choosing the right TOG rating for your sleep sack depends on the temperature of the environment. For example, during the summer months when the air temperature is warmer, or if you expect baby’s nursery to be in the temperature range of 23 – 26 degrees Celsius, we recommend a 0.5 TOG sleep sack. For temperatures ranging from 21 – 23 degrees Celsius, we recommend a 1.0 TOG Sleep Sack. And for cooler temperatures ranging from 16 – 20 degrees Celsius, we would recommend a sleep sack with a rating of 2.5 TOG.
